KAPA Board of Directors Member at Large

 

The Kansas Academy of Physician Associates is currently calling for Board of Directors nominations and renominations. Please read below for more information about the process, including submission procedures.

Nominating candidates is a valuable service to the Academy and your thoughtful participation in this process is greatly appreciated.

 

You may nominate yourself or another KAPA Fellow Member. If you are nominating someone, please obtain the nominee's permission.

 

Pursuant to the recently amended Bylaws the Kansas Academy of PAs will hold elections this spring for the following positions.

 

Board of Directors Member at Large – six positions available

  • Requirement of the position:
    • Must be a Fellow member of KAPA and an AAPA Fellow member in good standing.
    • Serve a two-year term starting July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2026.

 

Board of Directors Member at Large – one position available (vacancy – unexpired term)

  • Requirement of the position:
    • Must be a Fellow member of KAPA and an AAPA Fellow member in good standing.
    • Serve a one-year term starting July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025.

 

The KAPA Elections Committee will review nominations submitted and prepare a slate of qualified candidates to be adopted at the April 2023 Board of Directors meeting.

 

The election of the Board of Directors shall be conducted at least 45 days prior to July 1. An electronic election will be conducted and completed by the eligible voting members* on or before May 15, 2024.

 

   * Eligible voters includes KAPA Fellow members and Chapter members (formally sustaining members).

 

The individual(s) with the most votes received for the number of open positions will be elected.

 

If a tie occurs, the winner(s) will be declared by the KAPA Vice-President though drawing by lot (names pulled from a container).

 

Qualifications and Time Commitment

Board Members At Large

 

Any KAPA Fellow member in good standing may serve on the Board. (A Fellow member of KAPA must also be an AAPA Fellow member in good standing)

 

The KAPA board meets at least quarterly, with some meetings held virtually. We meet in Topeka at least twice a year (January and July) and the fourth meeting coincides with the KAPA annual meeting, which is typically in Wichita (October). More than 4 meetings can occur as needed.

 

The meetings can last 90 minutes or more depending on the amount of activity. Some additional work outside the meeting can be required.

 

Duties

Board Members At Large

 

It shall be the duty of the directors to:

 

  • Perform all duties imposed on them collectively or individually by law, by the articles of incorporation, or these bylaws.

 

  • Appoint and remove, employ and discharge, and, except as otherwise provided in these bylaws, prescribe the duties and fix the compensation, if any, of all agents, and employees of the organization.

 

  • Oversee all agents, and employees of the organization to ensure that duties are properly performed.

 

  • Attend and actively participate in at least 75% of regularly scheduled meetings and general membership meetings

 

  • Register their addresses with the secretary of the organization. Notices electronically communicated or mailed to them at such addresses shall be valid notices thereof.

 

In addition to duties as a member of the board of directors, the student directors shall act as a liaison between the board of directors and student members of the organization. They shall encourage student participation and involvement on the organization’s committees and projects.

Board Members At Large

 

Each nomination submission (including self-nominations) should contain:

  • Contact Information: Name, Practice Specialty, Work Affiliation, Home City, Email Address.
  • Nominee Statement: A one-paragraph biographical statement from the nominee indicating their interest in serving, practice experience and education/training background.
  • Submissions: Nominations should be submitted electronically to kansaspa@sbcglobal.net

 

Submission Deadline is Friday, March 1, 2024
